Plant Description - Yoshino Cherry, Prunus x yedoensis, is a hybrid cherry of unknown origin. Most popular of the white flowering cherry trees, the Yoshino Cherry blooms in the Spring before its leaves emerge. These Japanese Cherry trees are famous for the early spring display at the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. Yoshino Cherries are small deciduous trees that at maturity grow to be about 50 feet in height. They do well in full sun and moist, but well drained, soil. Yoshino cherries are excellent trees for home landscaping.
